The company started as BBJ Design Services Ltd. (BBJDS) in 2000 having been formed by Russ Wenman, Gordon Taylor and Frank Baldwin who are all still active in the company on a day to day basis.
The companies name changed in 2006 from BBJ Design Services Ltd to become H4 Aerospace Ltd. This name change was prompted by the setting up of the companies other offices all being located in towns or cities begining with the letter 'H' and in the case of our Budapest office being located in Hungary, thus prompting the fourth 'H'.
Swiss-based PrivatAir, who became a minor shareholder in the company, provided us with our first opportunity on their Boeing B757 aircraft which was undergoing a VIP modification program by a completion centre originally tasked with this project. However this company got into major difficulties, leaving PrivatAir high and dry and in urgent need of assistance to complete this project.
BBJDS rose to the challenge and completed the B757 aircraft design engineering in a timely manner seeing the project through to delivery and still provides on going support to the aircraft when required.
The company soon outgrew its office in Chesham, and now occupies a two story facility in Hemel Hempsted, Hertfordshire.
From these early days the company has grown and now employs a good selection of engineers covering avionic and electrical design, mechanical and interior design along with installation support.
H4 Aerospace along with our Hungarian and German partners set up offices in Budapest in Hungary, Hamburg in Germany. These offices now provide design engineering and program management to many of our European and eastern European customers. Our office in Hawarden (Nr Manchester) was established in 2002 in order to better support our growing UK customer base.
